EPOL371: Extending Gifted Students in the Secondary Curriculum

This wiki contains information on identifying students gifted in French, best practice for extending them, and specific resources which I have created in order to extend gifted students of French in mainstream secondary classes. Most of the resources were designed specifically with the New Zealand curriculum in mind, but will be relevant to other countries, and there are several which aim simply to challenge students in a fun way.

  • General
    These resources/activities could be used at/adpated for any of the year levels here.
  • Year 9
    These students may have studied rudimentary French at intermediate, but most will be more or less beginners.
  • Year 10
    These students have studied French for approximately half a year in Year 9, with 3 lessons per week. This year, they have chosen to take French for the whole year.
  • Year 11
    These students have 4 lessons per week, and are completing NCEA Level 1 in the language.
  • Year 12
    These students have 4 lessons per week, and are completing NCEA Level 2 in the language.
  • Year 13
    These students have 4 lessons per week, and are completing NCEA Level 3 in the language. Some may also have selected to sit Scholarship examinations.
